Meet Veterinary Surgeon, Richard Bleckman in his Theatre in London
As a new graduate from university, Richard’s first job was at a large Veterinary Hospital in Sydney, Australia. In his first week of employment, the director and a further referral surgeon fell ill while the clinic’s third specialist surgeon was on holiday. Faced with three severe surgical emergency cases, Richard stepped in to rescue the animals’ lives and undertook the complicated surgeries. The procedures were highly successful and, as a result, Richard’s career as referral surgeon began from week one of his employment 39 years ago.
Constantly striving for the best possible treatment surgery is still much of Richard’s passion, and he has developed his surgical skills across many disciplines from orthopaedics and soft tissue to spinal surgery and laparoscopy (keyhole surgery).
In 2010 Richard expanded his practice on Treville Street by building custom-designed veterinary hospital on Putney Heath, containing facilities of the highest hospital standards to encompass the needs of a highly skilled surgeon.
Richard’s bespoke theatre is cutting edge and equipped to accommodate laser surgery, arthroscopy and laparoscopy as well as soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries. Always prepared for an emergency surgery, the clinic stocks a vast range of orthopaedic implants. Additional to soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery Richard specialises in spinal surgery, TPLO’s - cruciate ligament repairs measured to the millimetre and laparoscopic surgery, with scopes of 3mm.
